Those of us old enough to have lived through the 1970s will have a fond remembrance of Mike Leigh’s play, ‘Abigail’s Party’.
Prawn cocktail, cheese and pineapple, Black Forest Gateau, kaftans and Demis Roussos songs made a comeback as we hosted our own ‘Abigail’s Party’ in The Vale’s Bar & Bistro.
Everyone here needed no excuse to don long dresses, chokers, suits with kipper ties and platform shoes a la 1977. Several indulged in ‘a little top-up’ but we are delighted to report that ‘Abigail’s Party’ Vale-style was more enjoyable than the original and everyone went home happy and well.
