Christmas Flower Arranging

The Vale will host our last, tutored floral decoration workshop of the year tomorrow (Tuesday) when participants will create fresh, foliage decorations for the festive table.

Those who have taken part in our previous workshops have discovered their creative talents to produce some lovely designs. “I especially love making fresh foliage decorations with a selection from The Vale’s garden,” says one of our group.

Tomorrow’s session will continue the theme, enhancing the foliage with flowers in complementary colours. Adding in dried orange segments, seed heads or baubles will add different textures and hues to capture the spirit of the season, as will using anodised baskets, glitter gold and holly.

Tutor, Di Robertson, encourages people to give this a try at home. “Use small glass or metal containers, even little jam jars that you may already have around the house. You can also find nice, inexpensive vintage glassware at charity shops. Choose flowers, small twigs and seasonal items and you may be pleasantly surprised at what a lovely touch it brings to the Christmas table. Plus you can vary the theme throughout the year.”
