The author, W. Somerset Maugham, once said: “No matter where I go, I can always make new friends at the bridge table.” And so it would seem at The Vale Living.
Every Tuesday, The Valees, (as we call them), link up with a group of players from the local U3A to enjoy a few hands. In doing so, they join around 3 million players in the UK who regularly take part in one of the country’s most popular ‘sports’.
Bridge is good for memory, mental agility and concentration. Of course it is also a sociable activity – although maybe not so much during the game for our more competitive players. They will all attest, however, that since they started playing together, they have definitely made new friends.
