T’is the Season for a Christmas party

Christmas festivities at The Vale have begun with a party for residents, their families and friends. The evening started with a Yuletide quiz to test their knowledge of seasonal fare and songs. Everyone ‘stepped into Christmas’ with Elton John and added their voices to Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas.’

A traditional roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings was enjoyed in the bar and bistro afterwards. Christmas pudding and mince pies went down a treat and judging by the animated conversation and laughter, a good time was had by all.

Christmas Carols …. And More!

The Reverend Steffan Mathias and The Reverend Ben Vertannes, Vicar and Curate at St Peter’s Church in Streatham have become regular, welcome visitors to The Vale. We were therefore, delighted to have them join us for our Christmas Carol & Songs session.

Father Steffan led his backing singers to ring out ‘Joy to the World’ and it brought a real sense of community when residents and staff joined in to raise their voices and celebrate the season.

The Valees had been looking forward to this event for some time and they certainly enjoyed the memorable solo parts for ‘We Three Kings’ and ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’.

Mince pies and a warming cup of tea were much appreciated. We have no idea if this contributed to a rousing finale of ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ but someone commented that it was like a scene from ‘The Vicar of Dibley’.

One of our residents who had attended the Christmas party and the sing-a-long said that both events had been delightful.
